On a 5×5 grid of points with diagonals each side has 12 pieces; jump along a line over an adjacent enemy piece to capture it — captures are compulsory and chain on — while plain moves may not go backwards. Capture everything or leave the other side without a move to win. Three computer levels, two-player mode and undo.
Tap one of your pieces (green dot), then a blue landing point. When a capture exists only captures are shown, and a multi-jump is played in one go.
How to play & FAQ
How do I play Alquerque?
Pieces sit on the points and move along the lines (orthogonally, and diagonally from points that have diagonals) to an adjacent empty point. You capture by jumping over an adjacent enemy piece along a line to the empty point behind it; captures are compulsory and a jump must continue while more captures are available. Plain moves go forwards or sideways only. Capture all enemy pieces or leave the opponent without a move to win; 40 moves without a capture is a draw.
Why can some points move diagonally and others not?
The board only has diagonals through every other point; only from those points can you move or jump diagonally.

Checkers is generally thought to have grown out of Alquerque played on a chequered board; the capturing rules are very similar.
