Sequence Memory
Play sequence memory online: coloured pads light up in order with musical tones and you tap them back in the same order. Each round adds one more step — how long a sequence can you remember? Choose 4, 6 or 9 pads and three speeds, mute the sound if you like, and track your best — great for short-term memory and focus.
Press Start and the pads light up one after another — memorise the order. When the lights stop, tap the pads in the same order. Get it all right to move on; the sequence grows by one step each round. Keyboard: digits 1–9 match the pads (with four pads QWAS also work), Enter starts.
How to play & FAQ
How do I play Sequence Memory?
Each round the computer replays the whole sequence from the start and adds one new pad at the end. After the lights stop you must tap the entire sequence back in exactly the same order. One wrong tap ends the game, and the correct pad flashes to show what it should have been. Your score is the longest sequence you repeated correctly; more pads and faster speeds make it harder.
How long a sequence can most people remember?
Psychologists often cite a short-term memory span of about 7±2 items, so reaching 8–12 steps with four pads is very good. Chunking the sequence into groups of three or four by rhythm makes it much easier.
There is no sound — why?
Tones are synthesised locally by your browser — nothing is downloaded. On a phone in silent mode you may not hear them, and some browsers need a tap on the page before playing sound. Untick “Sound” to play with lights only.
Is Sequence Memory free? Do I need to download anything?
It is completely free with no sign-up, download or install — just open the page on a phone, tablet or computer. The game runs entirely in your browser and nothing is uploaded.
